Hi, my name is Arielle Love (call me Ari) - a daughter, sister, auntie, ex-pro volleyball player turned IT enterprise solutions exec at a Fortune 10 company. Oh & founder of [mahál]®
Sometimes you're called to do things in life, and [mahál]® is that 'thing' for me — I was that smart, talented, uber-athletic, young kid out of Maple Heights, Ohio, who was introduced to the world of travel team sports, but my mom couldn't afford it. By the grace of a scholarship, and a village of special people with hearts of gold, I was able to play. I was able to go from 'the kid with so much potential' to the kid to look out for.
Travel volleyball provided the exposure and opportunity a kid from my zip code, just doesn't get compared to others. It enabled me to go to college for free, get multiple degrees, develop life-long relationships, and literally travel the world. It opened up a sea of possibilities my younger self could only dream of, and now I am determined to help other kids in similar zip codes do the same.
Kids from zip codes similar to mine drop sports at 6x the rate of wealthier ones. Many studies point to the rising hidden costs to compete, as the key culprit. With overwhelming societal consensus travel sports run by private associations being our new normal, what better way to close the wealth gap in travel sports, then with travel itself <3.
